Hastings Fourth Annual Downtown Sculpture Exhibit Opening Celebration
JUNE 14, 2013 5-8PM
This year's exhibit will feature 20 unique sculptures placed at locations of close proximity for walking throughout downtown Hastings or enjoying a short car cruise. The sculptures, procured by Midwest Sculpture Initiative (MSI), will be selected by an advisory committee of local residents, artists, art enthusiasts, and art instructors. The project is supported by the Downtown Development Authority. The NEW sculptures will be arriving in late April and be leased for one year.

Spray Plaza Groundbreaking
With over $502,000 gifted to the City of Hastings it was possible to begin the construction on March 25, 2013 of the NEW Spray Plaza located next to Hastings 4 Theater.
The project will consist of an array of in ground spray jets, a mini band shell, and a public restroom.
The contractor on the project is Orion, Plaza design by Viridis, and the Structure design by MC Smith.
The projected competetion date is June 30, 2013.

Downtown Development Authority
The DDA has made large strides in downtown Hastings to provide an enjoyable atmosphere for all residents in and around Hastings. New downtown events have been created, streets and sidewalks have been improved, new storefronts have been restored, old curbing and drainage systems have been replaced, new decorative lampposts have been installed, and seasonal banners are displayed. New events and improvements will continue to advance.
